Spring Debut

Luxury Lindsey made her first seasonal appearance at the Pacific Design Center for Spring Market 2024, Breaking Boundaries Summit, featuring a host of incredible conversations, keynotes, and curated events.

It was a quarter annual celebration with the renewal of Spring, awakening new ideas, design concepts, and creative endeavors.

Join us on a two day event detailing the magic, the details, and the delight of transcending limitations.

The Pacific Design Center has long captured my imagination from the ages of youth when I looked to the soaring structures as beacon of fashion, innovation, and creative design all held within its iconic Red, Blue, and Green buildings.

Perfectly situated at the intersections of San Vicente and Melrose Avenue in the West Hollywood Design District, the PDC remains an international hub for creatives within the global design community to come together, and imagine new concepts for interior, architectural, and luxury living.

It’s no wonder that the Center continues to thrive as a cultural destination for creativity and design, showcasing any number of incredible design firms, home living showrooms, and high concept art galleries. Faucets are the fixtures and mohair armchairs are the motif, and personality is everything when it comes to designing a world of magic and dreams.

Keynote Conversations

The two day event started with a keynote session at the Silver Screen theatre on the second floor of the Green building for a conversation with celebrated interior designer Oliver Furth and California Home + Design Editor in Chief Lindsey Shook.

The conversation featured a backdrop of beautiful images from any number of their exceptional design projects, showcasing the LA born architect’s panache for instilling joy and wonder within curated living spaces.

OP!

Optimistic Interiors

Heading up to the Thomas Lavin fine home furnishing showroom, Lindsey and Oliver were both on hand to welcome in the West Hollywood design community and celebrate with a personalized book signing of OP! Optimistic Interiors from Rizzolli New York publications.

It was a whose who crowd of interior design insiders and fashion forward decorators, as names like Michael Smith, Nicole Gordon, and Waldo Fernandez casually came up in conversation while design stars sipped mid morning mimosas.

Designing Women

Moving on up, we checked in at Pindler for a demonstration on high-end performance fabric with rugged durability for elevated wear and tear, withstanding all elements of life’s slip-ups and mishaps.

Boss Babes

We then headed over to Tai Ping Carpets for an inspiring conversation on bidding Farewell to Fast Furniture.

I had the distinct pleasure of meeting the Boss Babes behind Modern Luxury Interiors and Angeleno magazines, Lauren Sturman and Laura Eckstein Jones during the enlightening encounter that was both fortuitous and inspiring.

Having recently participated in the Modern Luxury Media Editorial Internship, it was a celebratory moment that was truly full circle, as it connected me the women who empowered to pursue my own brand of excellence and entrepreneurial endeavors.

Modern Concepts

Laura, serving as the Editor-in-Chief for Modern Luxury Interiors and Angeleno magazines, skillfully led a compelling panel discussion that delved into the world of eco-sustainable design. The dialogue showcased a distinguished group of creative visionaries at the forefront of this movement. Among the luminaries were Patrick Ediger of Patrick Ediger Interior Design, Claudia Afshar representing Claudia Afshar Design, and the dynamic duo of Rafael Kalichstein and Joshua Rose from Citizen Artist.

Together, they shared insights, experiences, and innovative approaches that are driving sustainable design to new heights. Laura's adept moderation and the diverse perspectives brought by the panelists illuminated the importance of eco-conscious practices in the realm of luxury interiors. This enlightening discussion not only celebrated the achievements of these industry leaders but also inspired a deeper appreciation for the beauty and significance of sustainable design in today's world.

Leading with Integrity

Of course we’ve all heard of the term fast fashion and the incredible waste polluting the industry the world over, however it is somewhat of an open secret that new building constructions are also a leading culprit contributing to climate change. While some have characterized sustainability as a trend within the current eco-conscious craze, it is quickly becoming the industry standard for architects, designers, and decorators who’ve been advocating for local and systemic change to reduce their carbon footprint one eco-friendly project at a time.

Creative Conversations

Heading up to the soaring fifth floor atrium of the Blue building, Quintus hosted a enlightening conversation on "The Art of Infusing LA-Based Artists into Interior Design," led by Editor-in-Chief of Luxe Interiors + Design, Kelly Phillips Badal.

Sophisticated Design

Featuring Philip Nimmo of Philip Nimmo Design, Helene Brown of Fresh Paint, and Christina Craemer, each explored the symbiotic relationship between Los Angeles artists, art advisors, and interior designers in crafting warm welcoming interiors that invite quiet reflection, dialogue, and discourse around unique pieces.

Pool Party

Navigating through the timeline of the evening's program, I descended five flights to land back on solid ground in the grand foyer.

As I reached the designated spot, my focus was instantaneously pulled in by the allure of the exquisite luxury game tables meticulously crafted by 11 Ravens. The sight was nothing short of captivating, with guests immersed in the delight of abundant champagne and indulging in exclusive samplings of Ravella Tequila around the lavish tables.

In this opulent setting, an atmosphere of sophistication and anticipation permeated the air, setting the stage for a memorable experience featuring seasoned pool players. Showcasing their unique precision and expertise, effortlessly sinking corner shots on the signature Raven Pool Table.

Conscientious Living

Over at Tidelli Outdoor Living, we leaned into another thought-provoking conversation on eco-conscious living with “Sustainable Design Unveiled: Building Healthy Homes and our Planet.” Moderated by Justin Williams, Founder of Blue Door Magazine, participating panelists included Horst Noppenberger of Horst Architects, Deana Duffek of Pure Design House, Sara Malek Barney of BANDD/DESIGN, and Gian Mandelli of Tidelli Outdoor Living, each contributing their own unique perspectives on incorporating sustainable design principles within their projects.

Formal Attire

Covering a wide range of topics, the discussion delved into the critical aspect of developing environmentally friendly projects that not only incorporate but also protect natural ecosystems.

Additionally, the team emphasized the significance of creating happy, healthy homes that not only support the well-being of their occupants but also provide safe spaces for practicing healing self-care routines.

High Note

As the first day transitioned into the twilight hour evening, guests were graciously invited back up to the sixth-floor atrium where The Art Wolf Gallery hosted a cocktail mixer in their super chic and modern exhibition space.

Enchanting Performance

This particular display showcased the profound theme of “The Female Gaze” through a dazzling collection of art installations meticulously crafted by renowned artists like Susanna Speirs Ali, Lareina Holsopple, dopez, Justina Blakeney, Lois Samuels, and Sofia Andrea Peters.

The night unfolded with an enchanting live performance by the gifted harpist, Ginger Rose, infusing a melodic allure into the already dynamic ambiance.

FUBU - For Us, By Us

Imagined by visionary curator Yael McShane Wulfhart as a counteractive measure to offset the proliferation of the male dominated art space, the gallery featured a diversity of art pieces created by and for Women.

With drinks and kombucha on tap provided by Zephyr wine coolers and kitchen ventilation, it was the perfect way to wrap a successful day one with industry leaders, art aficionados, and emerging artists in design and entertainment.
